Mt. Mangagew

Situated in the Cordillera mountain ranges and is part of the Purgatory-Mangisi traverse, Mt. Mangagew is the first among the series of mountain ranges in Bokod, Benguet.

It stands at an altitude of 5741 ft. above level and has a total of 840 ft. altitude gain from the jump off point. The trail is mostly straightforward which is composed of endless pine trees and the slope is a continuous ascent with almost no flat stops.

Upon reaching the summit, one will see a village, school, store and even a catholic chapel.  Vegetable and crop plantations can also be seen along trails which offers a picturesque view.

Hi if ever I will bring a car. Where can I park and how many kms it will take to reach the Mount Mangagew summit. Actually we are family of 4, 2 of those are my children. 2 yrs old and 8. Actually this is only a side trip as I am driving from Aritao Nueva Vizcaya going Baguio. Even a place to pitch our tent will be enough. Hope to get response from you. Tia

    1. Hi Sir, since Mt Mangagew is the first peak of Mt Purgatory traverse and is actually a part of a local community, I think you can pitch a tent there and is approximately 4km from the highway. You can ask the local guide Ms. Jerilyn for more details, here is her FB link: https://www.facebook.com/jerilynguiniawan
